Public Works IPM Certification Program


Background

A request for the IPM Council of Canada (IPMCC) to be the official body for Public Works IPM Certification was accepted on March 5, 2010 by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.

IPM certification requirements are outlined in Ontario Regulation 63/09 made under the Pesticides Act.

Certification Program

  1. The Program of Public Works IPM Certification is spelled out in the IPMCC document “Public Works Certification Program Policies and Procedures  . Please read this document and direct any questions to the IPMCC.  

  2. IPMCC also posted this document as well as a number of links on their Web Site (www.ontarioipm.com).

  3. Certification exams will be administered by Ridgetown College. Please register directly by sending an email to ipmap@ridgetownc.uoguelph.ca

  4. Study materials for public works vegetation managers are:

    • Industry Standards and Good Practices for Vegetation Management – Industrial Vegetation Management Association of Alberta - 5th Edition, March 2008 Chapters 1 and 3.
      • A hard copy of this is available with no charge from Ontario Vegetation Management Association, 905-805-2294 or on-line at: www.ovma.ca/studymaterials.apsx
    • Pesticide Training and Certification- Industrial Vegetation Module –Ontario Ministry of the Environment  (June 2010 revision)
  5. The Public Works Study Guide is posted here for download .The purpose of this study guide is to assist in preparing for the examination by focusing on key components

 

  • Ontario Regulation 63/09 made under the Pesticides Act requires that an annual report is prepared covering pesticide use in the calendar year. The first report will be required before April 1, 2011 and will cover the period January 1/2010 until December 31/2010 (report template ). The details are found in section 25 of the Regulation 63/09.
